About a year ago, the family decided to get a portrait shot of us. But the photos needed to be unique.
I remember growing up and being forced to sit still and take boring photos with the entire family. My dad had to bribe us and one of my siblings ended up crying.
Every. Single. Time.
But not this time. Not in this family.
We needed Zombies. There is no crying when it comes to zombies. Unless they are eating your face. And I’ve seen enough zombie movies to avoid getting my face eaten.
Below is the result of Ashley’s hard work at Luke Austin Photography.
A special thanks goes out to everyone involved:
Ashley Jones Collichio — Photographer
Brandon Harris — Zombie
Warren Kebert — Zombie
The Kids
And my wonderful husband Ken.

I love these pictures. Looks like a lot of fun!
So beyond amazing!! I saw this on Buzzfeed and had to check it out!
I know exactly what you mean about family portraits, I come from an Indian background so every time we go back there, we’re obliged to sit still and look happy and smiley – with everyone!
Cos you know, it’s not good enough to get natural photos of you with your arm around your aunt or anything – there need to be chairs and formations installed!
I’m definitely stealing this idea when I have a family – will of course credit you!

Great photos! I just signed on to follow your blog. #998! Was going to wait to be the 1000th, hoping there may be a free gift or some type of brass band with confettii and balloons but I wasn’t quite sure about your “addition of new followers” rate and needed to get back to rewatching the full 14 episodes of Firefly on Netflix. Am a single gay Dad of two teenege boys myself. Adopted both with an ex partner when they were infants. You’re stories mirror our lives in so many ways. (I especially like the no bed frames rule and have plans to put into action soon.)
Glad I found you guys and look forward to more laughs.

Love the pictures, wish my family pictures looked this much fun… Sadly my family would never be willing to do anything like it!
